Life offers choice of growing or decaying. I'm eager to grow and learn about health and fitness.

Texas State Duathlon Goals
Hoping to do 5k in 24:35 then 30K bike in 55:00 then 5k run in 24:35...3 minutes total for transition for a total of 1:47:10...which would be second based on last years results...including a couple of 59 year olds who come into the 60-65 group.
Decided to skip this due to hip injury and threat of rain. San Angelo had severe flooding on Friday and into Saturday. We would have driven right through that!
I'm a reformed couch potato who worked for a Health Club as a certified Spinning instructor until diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma on 7/19/2011. On that date 40% of the bone at the first metatarsal joint was removed and replaced with cement. My foot was in a cast for 6 weeks and 7 months later I can walk and ride my bike. This despite undergoing a stem cell transplant on January 11th, 2012 following chemotherapy induction. After losing all of my hair, 20 pounds, and several other complications I'm slowly recovering.
Besides my 3 children, and 3 grand children, I'm most proud of my health and fitness gains since retiring at the age of 51. The knowledge gains have been passed on to many people including my kids. I hope to inspire others to follow a path to health and fitness by personal example and sharing of knowledge.
During the first 3 years of becoming fit I lost 60 pounds of bodyfat, reduced pant waist size from 40" to 31" and a dramatic improvement in life quality.

ReplyDeleteSmall turnout only 66 people...this would have been for experience only. I would have finished about 40th.
